CHAPTER FOUR

ORIGINAL SIN

1.         T          F          If there was no original sin, then there is no inherited sinful nature in man, and no need for a redemption from sin.

2.         T          F          Many now believe the historic value of the book of Genesis.

3.         T          F          Man has no way of understanding why he has the sinful propensities that he so evidently has except by the revelation of the fall of man.

4.         T          F          Not understanding what is meant by total depravity, some people will deny a belief in the total depravity of man.

5.         From the teachings of Genesis 3, there are five things which show that man fell in Eden.

a.         There were ____________ imposed.

b.         There was ____________ incited.

c.         The ____________ induced.

d.         The ____________ incurred.

e.         There was ____________ interposed.

6.         T          F          For Adam to have sinned, it wasn’t necessary for law to have been imposed.

7.         T          F          Any restrictions which God places upon man are for man’s own best interests.

8.         T          F          Adam did not know that Eve had sinned, and he chose to sin and to remain with his wife, than to maintain his innocence, and be separated from her.

9.         T          F          Satan used the serpent as the instrument in this temptation of Adam.

10.       There are six steps that Satan took in order to deceive man into sin:

a.         Satan ____________ a ____________ about what God told Adam what he could not do in the Garden.

b.         Satan directed attention to the one ____________, instead of to the broad, almost limitless ____________.

c.         Satan ____________ to the Word.

d.         Satan ____________ God’s motives.

e.         Satan ____________ to Eve’s senses to tempt her.

f.          Satan incited rebellion through an unholy ____________ to be like God Himself.

11.       T          F          Any temptation could be categorized under one of these three forms of temptation which are, the of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

12.       T          F          A temptation is simply a test, and if it is not yielded to, it becomes a blessing to the one being tempted.

13.       Adam’s sin is considered the greater guilt in the fall for the following reasons:

a.         Adam directly ____________ God’s commandment.

b.         Adam ____________ ____________ in full knowledge of God’s Commandment.

c.         Adam could have ____________ his ____________ over his wife.

d.         Adam stood in a different ____________ to his ____________ than Eve did.

14.       T          F          Adam sinned, not as an individual, but as the natural head of the human race.

15.       The results of Adam’s fall passed on to all men. These are:

a.         Adam became a ____________ and ____________ creature.

b.         Woman was made ____________ to the man.

c.         The earth was ____________.

d.         The fall resulted in ____________.

e.         there would be the constant ____________ of man’s attempt to extort from the unwilling earth a living.

f.          Man’s labors will be ____________.

g.         Physical ____________ resulted.

16.       T          F          Since God’s provision of redemption did not antedate man’s existence, redemption did not come until the appearance of Christ.

17.       T          F          After the fall, a place of worship was provided by God.

18.       T          F          Nakedness is used very commonly in the Scriptures as a symbol of sinfulness or a lack of righteousness.

19.       T          F          The provision of clothing symbolizes the imputing of the righteousness of another to a sinner.

20.       Man has no need to try to make a redemption for himself for the following reasons:

a.         It is impossible for him in his ____________ and ____________ condition to do anything that would be acceptable to God.

b.         Christ has already accomplished all that is necessary for man’s ____________.

c.         The attempt to accomplish a redemption for himself is to deny either the ____________ or the availability of Christ’s ____________.
