Introduction
It is always a joy to me to introduce a great man and a great book. I have the pleasure of doing both when I present this volume.
Wayne Cox, pastor of the Woodlawn Terrace Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee, is truly a great preacher. It has been my pleasure to be entertained in his home on numerous occasions, to preach from his pulpit many times, to have fellowship with him in various Bible conferences, and to often hear him expound the Word of God. After having thus been most intimately associated with him, I am sure that I speak the truth when I say that he is truly one of America’s great preachers. There are many great preachers that I know personally, and of course there are many great preachers that I do not know. However, I am sure that Brother Cox stands on a par with the greatest of God’s preachers today.
There is a tremendous difference between a sermon that is recorded as preached, and one that is prepared as a manuscript before preaching. Each of the messages in this book contains a part of the soul of Wayne Cox, since they are messages reproduced as they were delivered to the church of which he is pastor.
This is an unusually good book of sermons. In printing this book, of necessity I have read the most of it fully three times and some of it even more, and each time the messages have been read they have impressed themselves upon me as being still greater than I had previously thought. To say that I consider the contents of these sermons as being sane, sound and logical is but stating it mildly.
Laymen as well as preachers will be inspired and encouraged by the reading of this book. It will prove a source of valuable information to preachers. It is a joy indeed to introduce it to both laymen and preachers as well. May God bless the book itself, and may He bless my good friend, Wayne Cox.
